All About MAID’s Rylea Whittet

October 18, 2021 By Linda Sherman Leave a Comment

As more and more people are seeing the new Netflix miniseries hit MAID that debuted October 1, they want to know about the captivating new actress Rylea Nevaeh Whittet who played Maddy. Maid is an important, highly rated new series about domestic violence.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month so this series was well timed. Each episode includes a screen message with a hotline and an important reminder that not all domestic violence is physical violence. For anonymous, confidential help, 24/7, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.

In the Maid miniseries, Alex, played by Margaret Qualley is trying to protect her daughter, Maddy, played by Rylea Nevaeh Whittet. Their acting skill and their chemistry helps both with the story and with educating viewers.

Rylea was born September 20, 2016. She recently turned 5 years old. She was 4 years old when shooting began for Maid. Her character is 2 and 3 years old during the 10 episodes.

Every time Rylea was on screen, my husband, Ray Gordon would remark, “This is the world’s best kid”. She displays such a good disposition.

She is also a good actress.

We are very fortunate that Rylea was cast in Maid. Her mother, Sarah Ramsay Whittet, shared this story with me:

Rylea was one of the photo doubles for the actor originally cast for Maddy. They had to use Rylea a number of times during the first few days of filming.. Rylea and Margaret had an obvious connection on and off screen and she was then switched to the main actor to play Maddy.

Margaret Qualley has been getting excellent reviews as Maddy’s mom in Maid.

On what’s next for Rylea:

We are excited to see what’s next for Rylea and so is she. Rylea loves “working” and asks when she gets to go back.

We will be focusing on finding her roles on tv shows and movies.

Some more about Maddy from Sarah:

Rylea loves gymnastics, swimming, acting, playing dolls, and her new kitten Teddy. Rylea is also a vegan and LOVES animals.

Sarah has put up an instagram for Rylea Nevaeh Whittet.

Some additional facts from Celebs Week about Rylea Nevaeh Whittet.

Rotten Tomatoes gives Maid very high marks. You may feel frustrated watching all the bad decisions that get made but this is reality.

The Wikipedia post for Maid lists her in “recurring” rather than “main” cast member. There may be a guideline related to spoken lines but I think her growing fan base expects her to find her in the “main” cast list. Noteworthy in the cast: Andie MacDowell and Anika Noni Rose.

Sense8

June 26, 2017 By Linda Sherman Leave a Comment

We were so disappointed when this ground breaking, wonderful Netflix series was cancelled.
Apparently the production cost estimated at $100,000,000 a year was too expensive.
Fortunately, Netflix listened to fans and is bringing us a two hour finale in 2018. So be sure to watch and savor the whole series.

Don’t expect to understand what is going on for the first 1 1/2 episodes.

Hallelujah Christmas Special (small spoilers if you watch this episode before you watch the series)

This Leonard Cohen classic can get in your head. In case you want to sing along, here are the lyrics:

I’ve heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don’t really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty in the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I’ve walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I’ve seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time when you let me know
What’s really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Maybe there’s a God above
But all I’ve ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
It’s not a cry you can hear at night
It’s not somebody who has seen the light
It’s a cold and it’s a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don’t even know the name
But if I did, well, really, what’s it to you?
There’s a blaze of light in every word
It doesn’t matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn’t much
I couldn’t feel, so I tried to touch
I’ve told the truth, I didn’t come to fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I’ll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Then there is the Saturday Night Live season finale that opened with their version.
